Sydney Sweeney opened up in a 9 December Hollywood Reporter interview about what makes her latest film ‘Christy’ so close to her heart, and how she feels about criticism of the film.

“I put a lot of love and hard work into this, so it feels good that people are recognizing that and that the story is resonating with people,” she said — adding that, more than anything, Christy Martin’s own approval matters most. “Christy’s opinion is the only one that matters to me. I did this for her, and she loves it, so I’m good.”

For Sweeney, she’s measuring success not by box-office numbers or critics’ scores, but by how ‘Christy’ pays respect to boxing legend Christy Martin’s story.
