In a report in sexual orientation in the UK, released on 9 December by the Office for National Statistics, a growing number of young people in the UK are now identifying as bisexual — a figure which some social scientists and journalists argue reflects broader shifts in how sexuality is understood and accepted in society.

The proportion of Gen Z identifying as bisexual has quadrupled in the past decade, from 1 percent in 2014 to 4.1 last year, which includes a surge among women, with the level hitting 5.5 percent.
