The caramelized onions are the star, but Hood is the secret weapon! #HoodPartner We’re taking the classic French onion dip and elevating it with rich, caramelized Vidalia onions (cooked with butter, thyme, and balsamic). But the secret to its luxurious, spreadable texture? That’s all thanks to the quality dairy products from HPHood.
.
.
We blended smooth, Hood Sour Cream with the protein-packed, creamy goodness of Hood Country Style Cottage Cheese to create a deliciously tangy base. It’s our favorite way to level up an appetizer, giving you that rich flavor you crave without the heavy feeling.

Serve this tasty dip with your favorite fresh veggies—you won’t believe how fast it disappears! We added ours to a festive board to celebrate the season.

Ingredients:
.
2 large Vidalia onions, sliced
2 tablespoons salted butter
½ tsp. fresh thyme
½ tsp. salt
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar of Modena
¼ cup mayonnaise
8-ounces Hood Sour Cream
16-ounces Hood Country Style Cottage Cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire
½ tsp. ground pepper
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. onion powder
2 stalks of chopped green onions
.
Make:
.
Melt butter in a skillet. Add onions, salt, and thyme. Cook on low heat for 25-35 minutes until deep brown.
Stir in balsamic vinegar for 1 minute; remove from heat.
Set aside 1 heaping tablespoon of onions for garnish; let the rest cool.
Add Hood Country Style Cottage Cheese and Hood Sour Cream to a food processor. Process until completely smooth.
Add the cooled onions, mayonnaise, Worcestershire, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and green onions.
Pulse 8-10 times to combine, leaving some texture.
Transfer dip to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Garnish with the reserved caramelized onions before serving with your favorite dippers.
