According to ESPN, the NWSL Board has approved a new High Impact Player mechanism that would let teams pay select star players above the current salary cap, up to $1M over with only part of the salary counting against the cap ⚽

The rule still needs NWSLPA consultation under the CBA, and players must meet both sporting and commercial benchmarks to qualify.
