Some of the loudest “people” online… aren’t people.

Bots pretend to be us. And we keep falling for it. So much of what feels like “public opinion” is actually engineered noise, designed to pull us toward the extremes and away from each other. The more polarized the feed looks, the easier it is to forget that most people still want stability, solutions, and sanity.

Understanding how bots and sock puppet accounts work—how they impersonate real people, trigger emotions, flood conversations and hijack the narratives—helps us react with more clarity instead of panic. It gives us space to pause before sharing, question patterns that feel manufactured, and protect the parts of our feed where real dialogue can still happen.
