We had a hoppin' good time celebrating Roseanne! 🐧

This southern rockhopper penguin turned 40 years old yesterday making her one of the oldest rockhopper penguins in human care. To mark this special day, the zookeeper team treated the penguins to ice enrichment and a generous helping of their favorite little fish. Over the course of Roseanne’s illustrious life, she has produced 11 chicks, including two who live with her at the Detroit Zoo, Finn and Casper. 

Roseanne's favorite sitting spot is at the edge of the water. Look for the pink beads on her flipper band to identify her. These bands are an easy way for the zookeepers to tell 90 penguins apart and do not harm or bother the birds. Plan your visit to see Roseanne today!
