BREAKING: The New York Mets are signing Jorge Polanco to a deal two-year, $40 million deal.

Polanco, 32, is coming off a very strong 2025 season in which he hit .265 with 26 home runs and 78 RBI. The plan is for the switch-hitting Polanco to play first base and DH.

On the heels of Pete Alonso signing a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles, the Mets ink Polanco as their new first baseman/DH.

It’s a start toward upgrading a lineup that no longer features its big slugger in Alonso. It’s a solid move, but there’s still plenty of work ahead for David Stearns. #Mets #LFGM #JorgePolanco
