Today, the Army–Navy Game reminds us that this rivalry is about far more than football. It is a living tribute to service, sacrifice, and love of country.

Every man on that field has already raised their right hand and sworn an oath to defend the United States of America. They play not for contracts or headlines, but for something bigger than themselves. Each of them stands ready—without hesitation—to give their last full measure of devotion for the freedom of everyone watching today.

That reality humbles me.

As a proud West Point graduate and Army veteran, this game will always mean something deeply personal. 

It represents duty before self, loyalty to one another, and the quiet resolve of those who choose to serve when it would be easier not to. Whether in uniform on the field or in formation around the world, these young leaders carry the weight of our nation’s trust on their shoulders.

Today we cheer, but we also remember the responsibility they bear, and the sacrifice they are willing to make so the rest of us can live in freedom.
