Buckle up… my husband deserves this novel of recognition.

After months of planning between us and an architect Taylor found to draw up a replicate of the old farmhouse on our property, we broke ground on December 4, 2024 . It’s very important that I tell you we actually moved in the weekend before Thanksgiving so my husband knows that you all know he accomplished a custom home build in under a year. He decided to GC the build and through all the contractors, I know that managing the designer (aka me) was the toughest. 

The building process came with the normal challenges like supply delays but a couple of challenges that were truly us.

Like, we took a trip to downtown Charlotte to retrieve our barn cat who decided that the inside of the waterproofing box truck looked like a fun place to explore. That tale alone could be a movie.

And then we also took one trip to the ER after a cutoff disc exploded and cut Taylor’s head open. We definitely should’ve taken more trips to the ER, though.

We took a week off of building when Mallie was born. She was a part of nearly the entire process and many times was happier with the sounds of construction than she was with her noise machine. 

I could keep going on and on… but the point of all this is to say my husband spent the better part of more than the last 500 days to plan and build us the most perfect home. All while working his usual job, expanding our farm and being the best dad to our girl. We’re officially home, because of him. ❤️
