This page is excerpted from the Abortion 101 section of The Abortion Companion, where I talk about what an abortion is - like literally, what is actually going to happen, so you can be prepped. As someone who needs to know exactly where the parking is beforehand, I really would have benefited from this info when I had my abortion! 

We go through the differences between spontaneous and induced abortions, medication and procedural abortions, self-managed abortion, and why someone might have an abortion later in pregnancy. 

There are answers to common questions like “should I expect cramping”, “what pain medications are available to me”, and “is it safe”? 

I hope that it is a comprehensive and approachable overview of abortion care.
