Best of the best ⚽

The 2025 FIFA Best Awards took place on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, with French star Ousmane Dembélé and Barcelona standout Aitana Bonmatí receiving The Best Men’s Player and The Best Women’s Player awards, respectively.

After winning the treble with Paris Saint-Germain and picking up the men’s Ballon d’Or, Dembélé capped off a superb year with the award. Tuesday’s recognition marked a third consecutive victory for 27-year-old Spain star Bonmatí and also completed a hat-trick of Ballon d’Or wins earlier this year.

After receiving the trophy, the Blaugrana midfielder said: “I am grateful to have the honor. If it wasn’t for all the players, coaches and the fans, I would not win it - I will enjoy.”

Other winners include Manchester City star Gianluigi Donnarumma, who picked up the men’s goalkeeper award for his key role in previous club PSG’s dominant 2024-25 season. England manager Sarina Wiegman was honored as the best women’s coach of the year, after guiding the Lionesses to their second European title over the summer. She became the first coach to win the award five times.

In a pre-recorded message, she said: “Moving into 2026, let’s keep pushing the women’s game forward together and create an environment for every player, so they can reach their full potential.”
