Facial recognition technology is being used at some New Jersey stores. But customers are often unaware because there are no requirements to disclose that and the state Attorney General hasn’t provided guidance for retail use. Experts say this lack of transparency is a problem. A State Senate bill aims to tackle facial recognition head on and would prohibit retailers from using it except for legitimate safety purposes.
How do you feel about this? Is this an invasion of privacy or needed security to protect businesses from shoplifters?
