#TSRBusiness: #Roommates, #TikTok is one step closer to securing its future in the U.S. after CEO Shou Chew confirmed the company has signed a deal to transfer its American operations to a group of U.S.-based investors, a memo obtained by CNN reveals.

The deal, which is still pending finalization, follows a U.S. law passed last year that required TikTok to divest its American assets from parent company ByteDance or face a ban in the United States. If you recall, President #DonaldTrump repeatedly delayed enforcement of the law while pursuing a transfer of control to American ownership.

Chew said the new TikTok U.S. joint venture will allow over 170 million Americans to continue using the app, adding that the deal is moving toward a planned close by January 22, 2026. Under the agreement, 50% of the joint venture will be owned by a consortium comprising Oracle, Silver Lake, and an Emirati-backed entity, MGX. Over 30% will go to affiliates of existing ByteDance investors, and 19.9% will remain with ByteDance.

Chew noted that while more work is needed to finalize the transaction, both ByteDance and TikTok have agreed to the terms.
