It’s Tailgating season. Go IRISH!  Over the years, I have built an arsenal of tricks to make tailgating a breeze.  Here are some of my favorites:

🎈Don’t let your guests get lost finding your tailgate
🎈Do send them a picture of  the balloons that mark your car

🍽️ Don’t always use paper plates
🍽️ Do bring the good stuff.  It elevates the experience and I promise people will eat more.  Just bring a bin to bring the dirty plates home so you don’t have to fuss at the tailgate.

🍔 Don’t always resort to hamburgers and hotdogs
🍔 Do make your favorite recipes.  Nothing is off limits for tailgating. Get creative! 

🌭Don’t think your six pack carton is just for beer
🌭Do use it as the best transport for all your condiments

🥨 Don’t fuss with a bunch of serving bowls
🥨  Do turn your chip bags into standing bowls - just fold in the corners of the bottom of the bag and roll and push up the bag contents up as you roll.  In moments, a standing bowl bag

🩹 Don’t spend your weekends packing and unpacking for tailgates
🩹Do pack an essentials bin at the beginning of the tailgate season, keep it in the garage and load it in the car for game days

💦 Don’t worry about dirty hands and finding a place to wash up
💦 Do make a portable handwash station by poking a hole in a large water jug and inserting a flexible straw as the spout

🍺Do be stuck without a bottle opener
🍺 Do use your car door as a bottle opener.  Just find the exposed metal lip or edge the door catches on (not the painted body panel). If it’s recessed, too thin to fit the bottle cap or plastic-covered, stop; it won’t work well or safely.  Grip the bottle neck firmly in one hand, thumb on top of the cap for control. Angle the bottle about 10–20° away from vertical so the cap’s edge presents to the striker.Slip one edge of the bottle cap under the striker’s lip and leverage it gently to open the bottle. It works on some cars but not all!
