❄️ How to actually enjoy a Chicago winter (with bbqguys!)

• Take care of outdoor spaces: Whether it’s picking up trash when you see it at your local park, stringing garland on a shared patio or building a snowman in your backyard, putting effort into these places will make you want to enjoy them… even in the winter! During this year’s first snow, we made the best hot cocoa on our montalpigrills outdoor kitchen, which warmed us up after snowball fights and snow penguin-building. We also cooked dinner up there! Mitch used the MEATER Pro, which let him monitor the steaks and veggies from his phone while we played. (It’s Cyber Monday, and bbqguys has amazing holiday deals right now if you’re ready to embrace the season!)

• Get outside: While it’s definitely tempting to go into hibernation this time of year, it’s SO important to get fresh air and sunlight!

• Invest in the right gear: Don’t skimp! Things like insulated parkas (my favorite is Save the Duck), heavy duty snow boots, ski mittens, hand warmers and long underwear can make all the difference.

• Up the cozy: When you’re back inside, light candles. Get the fire going. Use lamps instead of overhead lights. Make soup. Play music. And keep things tidy!

• Embrace the camaraderie: It’s a choice! We can either pass the frigidity in solitude or let it bring us together. Plan activities, meals and get-togethers with friends and family. Bonus points for doing it outside your homes!

What do you do to stay happy?!
