New serenaandlily rug! 😍 Here's a fun story: One day, while in a NOTHING-IS-CLEAN quarantine rage, I disregarded explicit directions and dumped an entire bottle of scented vinegar on our old rug because I was convinced that it would make it look and smell like it did when I rolled it out back in 2015. Spoiler: it did not. And despite trying to wash it out, the vinegar smell was so strong that it made me queasy. And then I questioned whether I was pregnant and freaked out. Spoiler: I was not.⁣ 😆

I was, however, heartbroken because I loved that old (discontinued) thing. But while I don't think it showed in photos, our family had destroyed it. It was in a super high-traffic area in our first home; you opened the front door and stepped right onto it because there wasn't any space for a foyer. And, of course, we had two babies who... were babies. And a hot dog dog who'd slink off to pee on it during brutal Chicago winters. (OFTEN RIGHT AFTER A WALK. 😡) ⁣

Professional cleaning helped but it was still stained, frayed and matted... and still had a dog+vinegar smell. Long story short, it had to go.⁣

BUT LO! Serena & Lily released its Hand-Knotted Winn Rug, and it's absolutely perfect. I couldn't believe my eyes as Emma unrolled it in her ball gown. 🤣 And I’m shocked that I feel this way, but it’s even better than the first one! It still has that timeless Persian style but the design is so much more intricate. It’s also tightly hand-knotted and has a shorter-than-usual pile that makes it feel old. (In the best possible way.) Finally, I’m obsessed with the color and how it brightens up the room.⁣

The best part, though, is how robust it is. Because let’s be serious: the Larkins are hot messes. 🤪 And stuff happens with little kids! And husbands. 😉 Thus far, Mitch has spilled seven (yes, seven) drinks on the rug and I couldn’t tell you where the spills occurred. We simply blotted ’em up and the rug dried perfectly. Similarly, the girls and Noodle play on it for hours every day and it continues to look great—I think again because of that shorter-than-usual pile. 🙌🏻
