☕️ Over the summer, something kind of sad happened. thefoxandshe, jesskeys_, lowstoluxe (not pictured but totally in the photo in spirit 😉) and I started to struggle in the work department. In August, we sat around a little table on a rooftop here in Chicago over drinks, and I can’t remember who said it first, but one by one, we confessed that we’d lost the “oomph” we’d once had. Blogging had once been a source of such joy; how had it possibly come to feel like a burden? Lots of theories were thrown out there, and for a while in the conversation, we all just attributed it to exhaustion—whether from travel, motherhood, getting older, work itself, or other personal factors. But then someone said something about losing our “team.” Yes, we all texted and called and FaceTimed and whatnot, but we just didn’t SEE each other like we used to, and that sense of togetherness and support and fun had weakened because of it. Everyone needs someone at work, right? (I mean, what we do is SO much more fun than working at Dunder Mifflin 😆, but every Pam needs a Jim, right?! And while I wish I had a non-romantic example, I’m going to go ahead and assume you feel me right now.) People who make you laugh; people who get you through; people who make you want to go to work in the morning, regardless of whatever it is you do. Anyway, I’ve always viewed September—not January—as the start of the new year. (🍎 📚 ✏️) So I’m vowing to schedule more togetherness with my Chicago crew, whether it comes in the form of work dates, girls’ nights, or weekend fun. Guys, YOU’RE the reason I’ve always loved this untraditional job, and you’re the best thing that’s come from it. 🤗 Love you! Sharing more pics on the blog (link in profile) of a girls’ day from last week, and talking about a recent work project with did with jcrew that made it all possible. 💕 #meetmycrew http://liketk.it/2xpTI #liketkit liketoknow.it
