Let me be VERY clear: I never said women should withhold sex in marriage. What I said is no woman should feel PRESSURED postpartum while her body is literally healing from a wound the size of a dinner plate and she’s sustaining a newborn with her body. That is basic human decency.

What upsets me is seeing Christian women twist my words and guilt other moms into believing they owe their husband sex while they’re bleeding, breastfeeding, and barely sleeping. That is not biblical marriage. Love is sacrificial. Christ gave His body for the Church. If a husband can’t lay down his own desires for a temporary time to care for his wife and child, that’s immaturity, not godly leadership.

Marriage is never perfectly 50/50. Sometimes he gives more, sometimes I do. No one is “ignoring” him. He still has emotional intimacy, partnership, and his wife, who is literally keeping their baby alive.

If your theology teaches that a man “needs” sex the way a woman “needs” emotional intimacy, then you’ve reduced your husband to an animal and stripped him of his God-given call to sacrificial love.

And if your marriage is only standing because of sex, then what happens if tragedy strikes? Illness, accident, hospitalization—it happens. That’s why marriage must be rooted in something far deeper than physical intimacy. A Christ-centered marriage is about serving each other, not guilting your wife into ignoring her healing for your convenience

And to the women saying, “Well, what if she wants to?” That’s completely different. If a couple mutually decides they’re ready sooner, that’s between them. I was never speaking against that. The point was that no woman should feel pressured before she’s ready.

Side note: This is not to say men don’t sacrifice. I see how much my husband sacrifices each day to provide for our family ❤ this is SPECIFIC to pregnancy and postpartum
