🙄🙄🙄 No ma'am, we are not the same! 

Since being in a wheelchair, for some reason, people just always have a burning desire to know what happened to me 😩...I don't know why we can't just normalize minding your business but I digress 🤦🏾‍♀️

Today I had a lady come up to me while at the boys football practice  with a burning desire to know what happened to me. At the same time Boosie comes up and asks for a sip of drink. "Mommy I'm thirsty." He runs off to catch back up to his team. She says, cute kid! Is he adopted?" 

My reply, "Thank you, yes he is."

Her: "That's so wonderful, I adopted my dog so I totally understand, little boogers!" As she stood there smiling waiting for me to say something like what kind of dog she had, I could not form the words...other than, "Um did you just compare my kid's adoption to your adopted pet" She blinked hard a few times and said she didn't mean to offend me and I simply told her that I didn't think she meant it, however, she did. We talked a few more minutes and she allowed me to explain to her why I felt the way I did. I thanked her because oftentimes when we don’t mean to offend people we then become offended they're offended and that's not right. Communication and understanding is the only way to truly effect change! She then apologized and simply said she would never compare the two again and understood better why I felt the way I did. If it wasn't for covid I would of asked her for a hug, I'm a hugger 🥺

While I understand that people are bat $hit crazy over their animals and they truly are apart of the family, however; PET ADOPTION AND CHILD ADOPTION ARE NOT THE SAME!! 

And I'm a dog owner and lover...I'd never compare your adopted children to that of my adopted animal 🤦🏾‍♀️
