When we started our journey to become a foster family, we were in the dark. We had a lot of questions and fears but we knew that God would provide all of our needs. In the classes, I listened intently and learned with vigor and purpose. I never wanted the children that we would have the privilege of meeting to feel like we were ill equipped to care for them. I wanted them to feel like this was their home and we were their family despite how long they would or would not be with us. The funny thing about foster care is, we go in thinking we are the ones that will be helping...but in actuality the kids that come into our lives teach us WAYYYYY more than we'll ever teach them. Learning as an adult to be quite and listen, that your way is not law, patience is really a virtue, being greatful is not the expectation, and your reality is not everyone else's reality can be a hard but necessary process.Sometimes we have to break in order to feed the masses. We have to be willing to be so giving of ourselves, so transparent, and so selfless that at times we may feel like we are getting nowhere, but God will not lead you where he cannot keep you. Sometimes, our only mode of reliable transportation is a leap of faith. We leaped not knowing if we would fall or fly and let me tell you, that keep has been the single most blessed jump I ever took! Dreams do come true, keep pushing forward!
