Understand this...I pray different. Not only is my husband a black male, he's also a police officer, a black police officer. .
Understand this, he's a black man first, husband second, father third, and then a police officer last. He didn't choose to be black but he chose to be a police officer. He chose to show other black and brown children that it's ok to become law enforcement after years and years of them hearing so many negative things about cops.
.
Understand this, we talked about his own run-ins with racist cops and how it made him feel to be pulled over and harrassed for looking like a "suspect in a crime" when he was a teenager. We discussed how him becoming a police officer was going to help not only himself, or our family, or our children, but also others that have had similar experiences feel comfortable with telling their stories and feeling represented. .
Understand this, in times like this, people always want to know where my husband stand...why should he have to choose? He's a black male cop...he stands with his culture and he stands with the blue line. He understand the state we are in. Don't get it twisted, he'll pop off when he needs to, he's going to stand for what's right, that's just who he is as a person.
.
Understand this, being in law enforcement is a very honorable thing, despite how you may feel. They wake up every day to serve and protect so you can feel safe. He would be less of a black man to allow any officer he comes in contact with, as a sergeant that took a sworn oath to protect; get away with their knee on an innocent man's neck...and that's word. .
So again, I pray different...we got black lives, biracial lives, white lives, and blue lives on the line over here...we know what we face but God knew what we would face first, let God be God! ❤💛🧡💚💜💙
