When these photos went #viral I was shocked...why? Because I never really knew or understood the extent to which we still had to go in the world of #transracialadoption .
Yes, we are an #africanamerican family with a white child. It didn't seem so shocking to us, but to the world, it was a "new" or "unusual thing"...when white families adopts black children, it's normal and that's what we are trying to do..
Change the narrative so this can be normalized too. Families don't have to match! .
