IICOMBINED, the company behind Gentle Monster, has filed both civil and criminal lawsuits against Korean eyewear brand Blue Elephant, alleging blatant imitation across its products and overall branding.

According to Gentle Monster, a 3D scanning analysis conducted by an external professional firm revealed a significantly high level of design similarity in 33 products.

Among them, 13 models showed over 99% similarity, while 28 models recorded similarity rates exceeding 95%.

Is this just “inspiration” — or has it crossed the line?

젠틀몬스터를 운영하는 아이아이컴바인드가 국내 아이웨어 브랜드 블루엘리펀트를 상대로 제품 디자인과 브랜딩 전반에 대한 민·형사 고소를 제기했습니다.

젠틀몬스터 측은 외부 전문업체를 통해 3D 스캐닝 분석을 진행한 결과, 총 33개 제품에서 유의미하게 높은 수준의 디자인 유사성이 확인됐다고 밝혔는데요.

특히 13개 모델은 99% 이상, 28개 모델은 95% 이상의 유사도를 보였다고 전했습니다.
