It had been 364 days since Nebraska last walked away victorious after playing an FBS team. That nine-game streak’s time of death: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at 10:17 p.m.

No one will mistake Nebraska and Indiana’s 2022 matchup for an all-time classic, but that won’t matter much to a Nebraska team that walked away with its first Big Ten win in a year.

As soon as quarterback Casey Thompson knelt for the final time, receiver Alante Brown backflipped. The stadium lights flashed. Red fireworks lit the Lincoln sky. Chants for interim head coach Mickey Joseph erupted out of the student section, while the fans standing in the sections near the tunnel broke out the old reliable Go Big Red chant.
