U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were targeting people applying for legal immigration status at a Hauppauge federal building, according to a lawyer, a legal assistant, activists and a friend of those arrested.

In separate incidents, ICE arrested two men moments after they left the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' Application Support Center, a lawyer, a legal assistant and a friend said.
