Gov. Hochul is declaring a state of emergency for Long Island and at least 13 other New York counties amid a powerful rainstorm moving through the region.

The announcement came after the National Weather Service warned of potentially severe flash flooding, as a result of the storm, which is predicted to produce up to five inches of rain in its heaviest bands, exceeding two inches per hour.
