BREAKING: The weekend brush fires, which spread rapidly across eastern Suffolk and burned hundreds of acres in the pine barrens, were accidentally sparked by a Center Moriches family making s’mores and using cardboard to light the flames, the police commissioner said.

Meanwhile, the Westhampton fire — the largest of four separate fires that were believed to have started by embers traveling continuously from a backyard — is now 100% contained.
