From Patient to Physcian:  At just 16 years old, Nahomi Barragan-Carmona’s life changed forever when a kitchen fire in Mexico left her with burns covering 70% of her body. Local doctors told her family she wouldn’t survive, but thanks to her uncle, a firefighter, she was transferred to Shriners Children's Northern California, where expert burn care gave her a second chance.

Nearly 20 years later, Nahomi returned to the very hospital that saved her life — this time not as a patient, but as Dr. Barragan-Carmona, a physician determined to bring world-class burn care back to Mexico.
