Last night was my first night out postpartum. On top of feeling like I had absolutely nothing to wear, I had to do ALL the things before I left (bedtime routines for two kiddos, prepping bottles for while I was gone, etc etc etc), AND be sure I had everything I needed to pump while I was out. It was A LOT. By the time everything was done, I didn’t even want to go. But, I went anyway! And I’m so glad that I did. While there are so many insecurities, so many things to do, so many reasons not to go, there is also one important reason to go that trumps everything else: you can’t pour from an empty cup. I’m a mom, but I’m still a woman who enjoys time with friends, getting dressed up, and a cocktail every now and then, and it was nice to just feel like me again.
