For the last 6 weeks, it’s been just Harper and me (and a couple of super supportive family members that we appreciate to no end). Hubby had to go ahead to Italy without us while we stayed back to take care of some of the logistical things that come along with having a new baby. This is something that overseas basketball families know all too well and not a experience that is unique to us. Most days were good, some were great, and a few were downright terrible as I battled the loneliness that came along with being without my partner while adjusting to life as a new mom. While it was difficult for me at times, I know that it must have been even harder for my husband who had to leave us, family, friends, and familiarity to start his basketball season. I can only imagine how left out he must have felt missing out on the last few weeks with his princess. As always, he handled it with so much strength and whenever I would ask if he was OK he would say, “if I cry, what’s the baby gon do?” @dequanmjones, I appreciate you so much for all that you sacrifice to provide for our family. Thank you for staying up late to FaceTime with us even given the time difference, setting the burglar alarm from your phone on the nights that I would forget, and doing all that you could to remain active with your daughter even given the distance. This little angel loves you so and I can tell by the way her face lights up when she hears your voice! Your girls are coming for you and we cannot wait for our family of 3 to be reunited in Italy!
