I've been a little (OK... a lot) clingy with my husband since he got back from China a few weeks ago. Between being apart for 4 months and being thrust into a season of change/adjustment moving to a new country less than a week after he got back, I've been holding on for dear life to familiarity and making up for the time that we were forced to spend apart. The truth is, I don't feel bad in the least for being clingy and I'll never apologized for genuinely enjoying my husband's company. He's my best friend and my favorite person to do almost everything with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, getting to spend so much time together over the least few weeks has spoiled me, and early this morning when he left for his first real road trip of the season, I was immediately struck with a little bit of anxiety. Being alone in a foreign country for the first time is a little scary, and I had to remind myself that I've done this before (multiple times, actually) and that it's always been OK. If I'm honest, it's been more than OK, and I've learned so much during these times that I've found myself alone in a foreign place, exploring not only the land and culture, but also finding myself. So, instead of dreading the time when my husband is away, this season, I'm going to choose to view it as a gift, a time for self exploration, growth, Bible study, and lot's of trash TV (lol) .
