Inside the #SothebysHongKong Maison at the end of November, cc.x.w dropped the hammer on 19 Masterpieces of Asian Art from the Okada Museum of Art including Hokusai’s ‘The Great Wave: Under the Wave off Kanagawa (Kanagawa-oki nami-ura)’—setting a new record for this woodblock print from from the artist’s famed ‘Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji’ series. 

The instantly recognizable work sold for HK $21.7 million / US $2.8 million, almost 3 times its high estimate, with the total white-glove auction hitting HK $688 million / US $88 million.
