We figured we’d close out #aapiheritagemonth with a little dancing! 👏

Baltimore HQ recently welcomed johnshopkinsu Bhangra and Shakti dance teams to perform on-site.

With its origins in India’s northwestern region of Punjab, Bhangra is a lively folk dance that has enjoyed immense international popularity in recent years. Based on a mix of traditional Punjabi music fused with Western styles, modern bhangra features heavy drum beats, colorful costumes, and complex formations.

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance that originated in the modern-day region of South India, Tamil Nadu. It is one of eight widely recognized Indian classical dance forms and it expresses South Indian religious themes and spiritual ideas.
