Meet Yurri, Senior Design Manager, Run Footwear “I think celebrating black history is crucial especially in this industry. The contributions that we’ve made in popular culture, design, fashion, and especially sport is undeniable. But now it’s really about reclaiming the narrative and taking ownership of our contributions. It’s great to see it, but it’s also important that people understand where these things have come from and the value they bring.⁣ ⁣
This year for Black History Month we wanted to highlight one of the most momentous events that truly celebrated Black History within the last decade. That was the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. We were especially inspired by the design work of the lead architect David Adjaye. When you look at the collection you can see how the Architecture inspired the color palette and other details on the shoes. One of the primary details being the Iron structure that encapsulates the building which pays homage to the iron guilds that freed slaves joined in the South.”-Yurri⁣ ⁣
