Our JoffreyRED Contemporary Ballet Summer Intensive joffrey.red is a seamless union of classical and contemporary ballet. Created in partnership with the BalletRED Contemporary Ballet Company, this immersive Los Angeles program invites dancers into a training environment where precision, risk, and artistic inquiry move side by side.⁠

Under the guidance of Artistic Director Josie Walsh ballet_red , dancers experience a daily practice rooted in classical ballet and expanded through contemporary ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. Each day begins with ballet technique and pointe, establishing clarity and strength that carry into a broader physical vocabulary. Improvisation, contemporary partnering, composition, and ballroom deepen dancers’ adaptability, musicality, and presence, preparing them for the demands of today’s concert dance landscape.⁠

For dancers attending both weeks, the experience extends into a performance track that mirrors the professional creative process. Participants collaborate in the development of a new work, engaging fully in rehearsal, refinement, and artistic decision-making before culminating in a fully produced concert dance performance.⁠

Designed for dancers ages 10–25, JoffreyRED Contemporary Ballet Summer Intensive will take place in Los Angeles from June 29 through July 10, 2026. It is a space for dancers to ground themselves in classical foundations while pushing forward into contemporary possibility, where tradition informs innovation and artistry is continually redefined.⁠
