1️⃣ Start by setting clear expectations and keep students accountable from start to finish. Stay consistent the whole time! Most students get so excited about these activities that they want to follow directions and don’t want to miss out.

2️⃣ Base your transformation on your current lessons. These aren’t just for fun; they help students connect with what you’re teaching or reviewing in a more engaging way.

3️⃣ Make use of what you already have, like your existing curriculum or worksheets you’ve made. The same goes for decorations or other materials you might need.

4️⃣ Try to make your transformation last a few days or even a week. Since you’ll put in a lot of effort, stretching it out makes it more worthwhile. I find that 2-3 days is just right, not too short, not too long.

5️⃣ You don’t need anything fancy or expensive for a great transformation. Use what’s already in your classroom or borrow from coworkers. Butcher paper from your school can make a big difference! If you need more, consider asking your PTC or parents for donations.

6️⃣ Show your excitement! When you’re enthusiastic, your students will be too. Try handing out tickets the day before to build excitement, plan around your students’ interests, or use a fun, themed call-and-response.

7️⃣ Keep your materials organized (I like clear bins) so you can easily find and reuse them next year. Save as much as you can, you’ll be glad you did.
