Mindful eating tips you can try this Diwali season:

1. Load up on lean protein prior to the party! Lean protein means it has very little calories with close to 0 fat or carbs. Ovo-vegetarian options: low fat Greek yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, protein supplements (comment “protein” for a link), and egg white.
- why this works? Because protein has the natural ability to keep you fuller longer. You don’t want to enter the Diwali party starving because you’ve fasted all day, that will lead to you overeating.

2. Load up on fiber before the party. This serves as a similar idea - low calorie food with a lower digestion rate so you can “save up” for that big party

3. At the party, drink 16oz of water before you eat! This is a daily habit everyone should have because most are not adequately hydrated and also prevents overeating.

4. “Eat a slice, not the whole cake” Fill your plate with mindful heaps of every food you wish, eat slowly, and then go dance! The problem with Festival food is overdoing it. You should 100% enjoy the food, but going back for 2nd, 3rd and 4th helpings is why the scale jumps up afterwards.

5. Drink 16oz of water after you eat, and you’ll definitely feel full, preventing yourself from overeating.

Remember it’s not restricting, it’s MINDFULLY EATING, because less face it, it’s never just one party right? You’re going to have multiple events and when we overdo it all those times, is when we face regression.
