This week’s Persian poem is by Sa’di, written over 700 years ago, and still uncomfortably relevant.

Bani Adam is a reminder that indifference is not neutrality.
If we can witness suffering and feel nothing, Sa’di is clear: you are not a human being. 

Inscribed at the United Nations and quoted by world leaders. But its real weight is in what it asks of us.
