Tsunami Warning remains in effect. First wave arrival is expected at or around 7:17PM.

All residents in the City and County of Honolulu are urged to get to higher elevations out of the tsunami inundation zone. Do not try to get home or to other locations within the evacuation zone. Go to higher ground now. Help reduce traffic on the roads, please walk, bike, or use other modes of transportation instead of driving.

“This is a moment in time when people need to prioritize the safety of their families,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi from the City and County of Honolulu’s Emergency Operations Center. “We need everyone to take this situation seriously, act accordingly, evacuate inundation zones, and listen to first responders. We are asking everyone to remain calm and be safe. Mahalo.”

Please review evacuation zones at https://p.veoci.com/hnlevac. If you are in the evacuation zone, take your Go Bag and evacuate outside the RED tsunami zone or evacuate vertically to at least the 4th floor of any building at least 10 stories tall. If you are outside the tsunami evacuation zone, stay off the road. Help reduce traffic. Only travel if it is essential to do so.

TheBus will run scheduled service up until 6 pm. All trips scheduled prior to 6 pm will operate. Please note, these trips may not be able to complete their routes if their destinations are in the potential inundation zone. After 6 pm, service will be suspended until further assessment of tsunami conditions and existing road closures. Pending conditions, we may restore TheBus service later this evening as we assess roadway conditions after the anticipated tsunami arrival period. More information to come.

Tsunami Assembly Areas are open and can be found on the map here: https://p.veoci.com/hnlevac. Assembly areas are places to park and wait for the tsunami threat to pass. They are not fully staffed shelters. Shelters for residents impacted by tsunami waves may be opened after the extent of these impacts are known.

Only call 911 for emergencies. Help keep phone lines clear.
