BMW Art Car Artist Spotlight: Frank Stella 🖤🤍

In 1976, artist Frank Stella took on a new creative challenge with BMW Art Car #2, turning the BMW 3.0 CSL into a rolling work of art. Inspired by the car’s technical structure, Stella wrapped the vehicle in a bold black-and-white grid design, reminiscent of graph paper. Forgoing symbolism or distracting designs, Stella described the final look as “agreeable decoration” – only to stand out as it raced by during the 24 Hours Le Mans the same year.
