## Caption

If you walk along the riverside in Covington, you may have noticed this statue reading on a bench. It portrays James Bradley, a former slave who bought his freedom and crossed the Ohio River to Cincinnati. Bradley, driven by a passion for learning, was accepted into Lane Seminary and led debates on the abolitionist movement. The statue was created in 1988 by sculptor George Danhires and was voted the 4th most interesting statue in the area by Cincinnati Magazine in 2014. If you are interested in viewing this sculpture for yourself, it is only a few blocks away from our Covington branch!
