❄️ Winter is a great time to go out for a hike. It can be a magical winter wonderland in the snow and ice if you can catch it at the right time. 

📌 Cascades Waterfall
📍 Pembroke, Virginia (Giles County) 

🥾 3.7 mile hike 
📈 728 feet elevation 
🚶🏼‍♀️rated as a moderate hike 
🅿️ $3 parking fee 
👀 the trail runs along the waters edge leading to an impressive 66 foot tall waterfall 

⛄️ Snow Hiking Tips

• take microspikes for your boots or hiking shoes for extra traction to prevent slipping 
(Send me a DM if you would like the link to the ones I use and recommend)
• dress in layers that you can take off or put back on as your body temperature changes throughout the duration of the hike (base layer, fleece mid layer, & a down outer layer)
• take gloves and a beanie hat even if you don’t think you’ll need it. They are great to have in case your hike runs longer then expected 
• usb rechargeable hand warmers or the disposable ones are a must
• a head lamp and an emergency blanket are also 2 additional items I would recommend
