The FBI recently declassified their file on the late #ArethaFranklin. It shows that they collected information about the legendary singer from 1967-2007. They used fake phone calls, infiltration, and surveillance in an attempt to gauge how involved she was with the civil rights movement, communism, and the Black Power movement.

The document, which was released in early September, contains 270 pages and includes reports from more than a dozen states. It shows that the FBI extensively tracked Franklin’s activism, and particularly her friendships with #DrMartinLutherKingJr , and #AngelaDavis.
