WATCH: Prime Minister Andrew Holness joined residents of Accompong on Tuesday for the 288th Accompong Maroon Treaty Day celebrations. 

The historic occasion commemorates the treaty that secured the freedom and autonomy of the Maroon people and highlights their enduring legacy of resistance and resilience. 

Holness noted that the culture of the Maroons remains a vital part of Jamaica’s national identity and continues to inspire pride among Jamaicans at home and across the diaspora.
