Everyone talks about speed like it’s only about how fast you can run. It’s not.

Speed is also about how fast you think.

The biggest difference between amateur midfielders and pros happens before the ball ever reaches their feet. If you wait until you receive the ball to look up, you’re already behind the play.

Scan while the ball is traveling. Check your shoulder. Take quick mental snapshots of where defenders and teammates are. That one second of information changes everything.

When you know your next pass before your first touch, you play one- and two-touch soccer while everyone else needs three or four just to figure it out. That’s real speed.

Train your brain, not just your legs.
