Representing one of the deepest rabbit holes in automotive lore, this vehicle combines a rare Alpina convertible with a nearly mythical “1 of 3” panoramic hardtop.

The roof itself is a removable prototype made of amber-tinted polycarbonate, originally built solely for auto show displays to demonstrate maximum visibility.

While the underlying Alpina C2 2.7 chassis is highly desirable on its own, the addition of this unique “fishbowl” canopy elevates the car to legendary status.

BMW ultimately abandoned the design due to practical concerns like heat retention, making the surviving examples widely considered the “Holy Grail” of E30 accessories.
