Join us in congratulating ACF Board Member Gao Hong on 50 years as a performer, composer, improviser, and educator! A pipa virtuoso who utilized improvisation as a key part of her practice, she has collaborated with musicians across genres and musical traditions, and has written works for the Minnesota Orchestra, Kenwood Symphony, Theater Mu, and Ragamala Dance company. We are so thankful for her artistry and collaborative spirit, and her contributions to the musical community in Minnesota and beyond. 

In today’s celebration at the Ordway, Gao Hong will showcase her deep connections and collaborations with an array of diverse cultures and her own celebrated compositions. Special guests include rapper/singer Dessa, members of the Minnesota Orchestra, her multicultural group Speaking in Tongues, the award-winning Carleton College Chinese Music Ensemble, and more.
