Walking on Water, on Innova Recordings created in collaboration with visual artist and dear friend Makoto Fujimura. These pieces are spirituals created in response to Mako’s amazing paintings in this series of Walking on Water and dedicated to those lost and who have survived the 3/11 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami as well as those affected by the climate crisis. This album features my incredible band (who are all incredible soloists and composers of their own works too) DreamTime Ensemble with Jennifer Choi @jennychoi8 violin, Yve Dharamraj @droptheendpin cello, Claudia Acuña @claudiaacunamusica vocals, Jake Landau @jakelandau guitars, pianet and Hammond b3 organ, Yuka C. Honda @eucademix electronics and synthesizers and yours truly on drums and percussion 🙂 Recorded @spillwaysound and mastered @oktavenaudio and design by Shankari Murali. Thank you @culturecarecreative @innovadotmu and thank you to all of these beautiful artists and recording engineers who helped to make this happen remotely and safely as I found my ensemble and engineers and designer spread out distantly in many places during the pandemic last year. There are also two compositions comprised of water from field recordings in the Indian and Sikkim Himalayas.
