This year, we’re thrilled to invite three guest curators – @armandocastellano, @garrettmcqueen, and @emoonpark– to join a curation panel with three of the five NMG organizers – @marykouyoumdjian, @jaschanarveson, and @little_miss_echo. By inviting these inspiring and far-reaching artists/curators to join in the curation of NMG 2021, we hope to expand the sounds, scopes, and demographics represented at our event. Read below to meet the #NMG2021 panel and submit your proposals at www.newmusicgathering.org/proposals

ARMANDO CASTELLANO is a San Francisco French horn player, bilingual teaching artist, and arts advocate where he directs Quinteto Latino whose mission is to disrupt racial and economic disparities within classical music.

ELENA MOON PARK is a multi-instrumentalist and lover of the arts who likes to think about urban policy. She is a co-director of the Brooklyn-based arts org Found Sound Nation and a music-maker, primarily for families and kids.

GARRETT MCQUEEN is a bassoonist; Executive Producer and co-host of TRILLOQUY podcast; collaborates with arts organizations as an equity consultant, guest speaker, and curator; & serves on the board of the American Composers Forum as Equity Committee Chair

MARY KOUYOUMDJIAN is an Armenian-American composer & documentarian whose work often integrates interviews w/ resilient individuals & field recordings which aim to invite empathy by humanizing complex experiences around social & political conflict.

JASCHA NARVESON was raised in a concert hall in Southern Ontario and put to sleep as a child with an old vinyl copy of the Bell Labs mainframe computer singing "Bicycle Built for Two." He now makes music for people, machines, and interesting combinations of people and machines.

ANGÉLICA NEGRÓN is a Puerto Rican composer/performer/educator writing tiny and big sounds for chamber ensembles, orchestras, films, plants, voices, robots and drag queens.
