🎉New Music Gathering 2021, co-presented by @americancomposersforum and @newmusicusa, will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 12-14, exploring the theme of “Money?”. Given the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are prepared to reimagine NMG 2021 as a hybrid or fully online event and are in constant communication with our partner @augsburguniversity to secure up to date information about the viability of each option.

Proposal Submission for #NMG2021 is now open! Submitting a proposal is completely free. We will be accepting proposals through 31 January 2021 at 11:59pm PST.

The curation panel for NMG 2021 will have three of the five NMG organizers (Mary Kouyoumdjian, Jascha Narveson, and Angélica Negrón) and three guest curators (Armando Castellano, Garrett McQueen, and Elena Moon Park). By inviting these inspiring and far-reaching artists/curators to join in the curation of NMG 2021, we hope to expand the sounds, scopes, and demographics represented at our event. 

As New Music Gathering plans its sixth conference, we reflect on and react to our theme: “Money?” – given the economic uncertainty of the arts right now, by naming this theme we invite our applicants to raise questions, offer suggestions, and share experiences that help us sustainably reimagine our creative community together. 

NMG appreciates your applications, especially in a year where so much is harder than it should be and making or even having plans is a bit weird! As an incentive / thank-you for taking the time to share your ideas with us we’ll be choosing 40 applicants COMPLETELY AT RANDOM to receive $100.  It isn’t huge but it will hopefully make itself useful in your musical and extramusical life.
